Introduction

The story follows a strict line of friendships and relationships between four girls with Corey AKA Slick. There has been pain hurt and discovery with all the girls as they go through good times, rough times, and even sad times.

Chapter One: Ra-Ra

See Corey and I really didn’t have a long term relationship status with each other because of his constant resort to go and talk about his former girl and best friend Kris. She was his world and meant everything to him. I understand that because they grew up with me. She is one of my close friends as well. Today I’m over here at Corey’s house chilling like usual.

“Baby, I didn’t know you were here.” He said. He had just come home from the studio recording with his brothers.

“I was here when you left for the studio this morning and I never left the house either.” I said. We shared a laugh because he left around five this morning and I was able to go through the day without dealing with anyone besides Kris coming over to see what I was doing. We talked and had some food. Then I left because he needed to get some sleep tonight.

Slick’s POV

Ra-Ra just left the house and I’m not in anyway sleepy but there are so many reasons why she left. She probably figured I was going to bring up something about Kris again. Most of the time I would but Kris and I have been apart for about a year now. I still haven’t gotten over that. A relationship isn’t what I need right now. I need to just try and let go which will never happen. I loved Kris and it’s really hard for me to do that right now. A year should’ve been long enough for me to move on with my life. Kris practically lives with my mom.

Kris is staying with her at the moment because she always used to stay with me. I’m with Ra-Ra right now and Ra-Ra is good friends with both of us. We are all still in school. I have one more year before I graduate. This was the first time Kris and I ever broke up. Marcus is still talking with Rozzy right now I knew they are about to hook up, Spec is talking to Bahja and Blue is really talking with Alicia. Alicia and Bahja just met all of us right around the time Kris and I broke up. We broke up over something really insignificant to our relationship.

The next day Corey didn’t need to go to the studio with his brothers so I went back to his house to see what he needed. I got there in record timing too. I saw another vehicle in the driveway. I figured his mom was visiting him. That also meant that Kris was here too. I went up to the door and Kris opened it before I could knock.

“Hey girl,” she said. She was leaving with his mom from what I could tell but then I looked behind me and saw that she was getting a bag from the car. She was staying here with Corey like old times. Right then, I knew something was going on and I needed to find out what it was.

“Corey,” I yelled. I walked into the kitchen where I found him and his mom talking.

“Hey Rachel,” His mom said. She always greeted me with hug and a kiss on the cheek.

“Is Kris staying here?” I looked at both of them.

“No she is going to be staying at my dad’s house.” Corey said. I was surprised now because she was getting her bags out the car like she was staying here with us.

“I was just wondering.” I was confused now but then after thinking about it I realized that his dad lived across the street. His brothers shared this house with him. They were staying across street though because I was staying here. His mom left the house and I went upstairs to the bedroom to lie down for a while too much was happening. I was going to break up with Corey or at least we were going to take a break because he was too caught up with Kris at the moment and I wasn’t really getting a lot of attention.

Chapter Two: Libby

This is where I am confused why would Corey try and date me when he hasn’t gotten over Kris. Kris was his first love but he is trying to get over her by dating, which started with their best friend Ra-Ra which lasted all of six months. I’ve always been friends with them too. So has my girl Angel, I was the one that introduced Kris Corey and Ra-Ra to Angel. Kris went through hell recently though but I’ll get into that later on.

I got with Corey within like six or seven months after he broke up with Ra-Ra. I didn’t mean to get with him so soon but things happened so quickly between us. He would come to me with problems and we started talking about two months before we got together. I had no clue as to what I was really getting myself into when I got with him. Two months after I got with him, I realized what I was got myself into when we got together, and I was falling in love with him but he wasn’t really in love with me. He would say it but yes I figured out that he was still in love with Kris though.

It took me about five months to finally get the courage to comfort him about it.

“Corey, we need to talk.” I said. He sat down at the table across from me.

“What do we need to talk about?” He said. I looked into his eyes to see if he knew but he didn’t.

“Do you love me?” I looked at him for an answer.

“You know I do.” He smiled and held my hands.

“Do you love me more than you love Kris?” That caught him off guard. He let go of my hands and put his head down.

“You know how long we were together and everything that led to us breaking up but I still haven’t let her go.” He put his head down then looked up at me and gave me a small smile.

“Well I think you need time to try and get over her so I’m going to break up with you but we can still be friends.” He gave me a big smile and then got up to give me a hug. I loved his hugs and after we let go. I went and packed my stuff with his help.

I said something earlier about Kris and what happened right before he got with me, she got raped by Trevon and Marcel. She was tutoring Tre and basically she didn’t know Marcel was over at the house. They were taking a break from studying and Tre started pushing up on her. He got Marcel and they forced her to have sex with them. She was a virgin and Corey respected the fact that she was holding it. He took their side over her side. They didn’t talk for over two months. He was upset and depressed about that. He found out from Diamond what actually happened and he also found out that Tre and Marcel went to juvenile hall.

I found out about all of that from Spec and Diamond like a week after the rape happened. Diamond had told Corey about it two days after Kris went into the hospital. I never told anyone else about it because they trust me with information.

Chapter Three: Angel

Wow! I would have never thought I would get with Corey because he is so in love with Kris. He has dated Ra-Ra and my girl Libby too. It’s hard to believe he is dating everyone besides the love of his life Kris. He hasn’t gotten over her but still attempts to have other relationships. Corey was so in love with Kris. Libby told me they were dating since the seventh grade well more like Corey was in the eighth and she was in the seventh. They took things slow at first but now they are just friends and they still talk.

Kris and Ra-Ra attend University of Florida in Gainesville together. They got scholarships to both University of Florida and University of Miami but something bothers me because I’m thinking Kris is hiding something from Corey. I never asked Ra-Ra about it though. Well I’m still happy I’m with Corey right now but I have a feeling that this feeling isn’t going to last. Right now he is on the phone with Kris. They are coming down to visit for the weekend. He is just smiling away at what they are talking but then he talks to Ra-Ra for a while. He gets off the phone after forty-five minutes.

“What are we doing tonight?” I asked.

“Well we can get things together for this weekend.” He suggested. We had a lot of cleaning up to do with the guest rooms because most likely Corey was going to have them stay at the house with us. I heard Corey’s phone ring and he answered it. I saw his expression change from happiness to anger. He got off the phone and called Kris back. He was mad at her for some reason.

“What’s going on?” He looked at me with a pissed look on his face.

“Marcus called me telling me that I had a daughter and to come and get her. He also told me that Diamond knew about this too.” I looked at him shocked because I didn’t know about her yet. I bet that Libby knew about this though. I called her to see if she knew about it. She told me that she knew but didn’t know that Taniyah (Corey and Kris’s daughter) was about to turn three until Ra-Ra told her two days ago. Corey was already gone before I could say anything to him about how old his daughter was. Kris had been raising Taniyah by herself. Marcus had just found out last weekend when he was visiting Kris and Ra-Ra and he decided to take her for the week.

Corey walked into the house holding Taniyah who was asleep on his shoulder. She looked just like Corey. He took her up to our room to sleep. He came back calm and collected about the whole situation. This whole situation was going to blow up before Kris and Ra-Ra got here on Thursday night.

Chapter Four: Slick

See I love Kris too much and it seems to mess up all my relationships that I’ve tried to have. I’m stable with Angel right now but now that I know that I have a beautiful daughter named Taniyah Angel Sarai Mathis. I’m thinking about calling it quits with Angel and try to workout all my problems with Kris so our daughter can spend time with both of her parents. Taniyah knew about me from Blue and Marcus. Kris had told her about me too and she was happy to finally meet me. She actually jumped on me when I first walked into the house. I guess Marcus told her I was coming. Kris wasn’t happy that Marcus told me about her but she is going to explain to me why she didn’t tell she was pregnant with my child before she went off to college. Taniyah is practically three years old now and I didn’t know about her. I’m really mad at Blue because he knew about her since Kris had her.
Thursday around five, Kris and Ra-Ra got to the house. I was shocked to see Kris and Ra-Ra because I haven’t seen them for over two years. I know they were coming down for Spring break as well. Taniyah run over to Kris and hugged her. I really missed being with Kris because we are so close and can talk about anything. Libby was coming by later on. Everyone else was there though.

“Whose daughter is this?” Spec asked.

“She is Corey and Kris’s daughter.” Ra-Ra said.

“She’s my niece.” Spec was happy now. Blue was surprised at how everyone took the news.

“Why didn’t you tell us about her?” Marcus asked.

“I didn’t know until after I left that I was pregnant. Blue found out when I had her.” Kris replied. I figured that because we celebrated the fact that she graduated high school by having sex. We had got back together for five months but after we had sex things went bad again then we broke back up. I saw Angel looking at me weird like she was upset with me. We got together shortly after Ra-Ra and Kris left for college. I was mad at Kris for deciding to go to University of Florida instead of staying home and going to University of Miami.

“What’s her name?” Bahja asked. Taniyah walked over to her and smiled at her.

“That’s cute right there but yea what’s her name.” Alicia commented. Taniyah walked over to Alicia and put her arms up so Alicia could pick her up.

“Her name is Taniyah Angel Sarai Mathis.” Kris said. Everyone looked at me and I just shook my head. I was still surprised that she never told me about Taniyah. I loved Taniyah because she was my daughter and she was sweet. She reminded me more of her mother than I thought she would.

“How long did you know about her?” I directed the question to Blue.

“I found out like two months before she had her. Then when she was in the delivery room I was right there to help with the delivery. I should have told you but you were getting over her leaving you for the second time.” He had a point it would’ve made me even more upset if he had told me about her.

“Let’s leave these two alone to talk.” Finesse said. I know he knew about her too because Kris was real close with him. They all walked outside and now Rozzy was holding Taniyah who was falling asleep.

“Why couldn’t you tell me about our daughter?” I asked. I looked in her eyes but I couldn’t read what she was thinking for the first time in our lives.

“I don’t even know. I didn’t want you to be pulled back from doing what you love and I wasn’t ready to commit myself to you again.” She was afraid of relationships and every single time we broke up she went through the same hell I did because everyone thought we were the cutest couple on campus. We broke up about five times before she graduated from high school. The in between relationships weren’t smart on my part because I never could get over her. I loved
Kris and it hurt me too much to try and move on.

Everyone walked into the house again. Kris took Taniyah from Rozzy and went to put her down in one of the guest rooms. I followed her upstairs so we could talk some more but we went into another room, so we wouldn’t wake Taniyah up. We went into the room next to where Taniyah was to talk.

“How are things between you and Angel?” She asked.

“It’s not going all that well because I’m still in love with you and she has figured out that she will never replace you. I think we’re about to break up soon.” I said. She was looking down at the ground. I put my finger under her chin and made her look at me. I didn’t know if I could actually break up with Angel because she loved me so much.

“What would happen if we got back together?” That question caught me off guard because I didn’t think she would ask that but everyone else has asked me that question.

“I don’t even know personally because it seems like every time we get back together something goes wrong and we end up breaking up. I think we could get together for Taniyah since she needs both of us in her life.” She nodded in agreement but the only problem was breaking up with Angel. Kris kissed my cheek and left the room. She had me thinking that we were definitely going to get back together but she had to move back to Miami first. I checked in on Taniyah and she was sleeping peacefully. I walked downstairs and all eyes were on me.

“Well we’re heading out bro. We’re going to come over for the bar-b-que tomorrow when mom is here.” Finesse said. Everyone left the house. Angel Ra-Ra and Kris were talking and I sat down on the couch. I heard a knock on the door and Kris got up to get the door. She walked back in with Libby.

“Where’s Taniyah at?” Libby asked.

“She’s sleep upstairs right now.” Kris said. We started talking about everything and catching up with Kris and Ra-Ra to see when they were planning to move back home to Miami. They said right now it depends on what happens the rest of the year for them because they might move back to finish school at the University of Miami.

Two hours later, Kris and Ra-Ra were getting tired so Angel took them to their rooms they would be staying in while they were in Miami. I hope they were staying through the entire weekend but according to Kris she might have to go back to Gainesville to finish up her group project with her partner.

 

 

Chapter Five: Kris

Corey and I have always been friends and we have dated numerous times before. We also have a child together Taniyah. I should’ve told him about her sooner but I didn’t even find out I was pregnant until after I left Miami. It was eleven at night when one of my three partners from my group called me to tell me that we needed to get back to work on the project that was due on Monday. I told him I would leave in the morning because it was too late for me to leave then. He insisted that I left as soon as I could. I said whenever Ra-Ra gets up we will leave and come back so we can finish the project. He hung up after that. We were supposed to be meeting up before class on Monday to finish up the last few things for the project. Everyone was supposed to get their individual sections finished before Monday so we could put everything into a presentation before class.

That call made me hungry for some reason so I went to the kitchen to make something to eat. It was practically midnight too. This was like a routine back when Corey and I were dating we would both get up right around midnight and I would make something for us to eat. It would be made for at least three to five people but both of us would eat all the food. I started cooking and Ra-Ra came downstairs.

“Girl, who were you on the phone with?” She asked.

“Nick, he wants me to come back so we can finish the project. He knows we all decided that we would finish first thing Monday morning before class but he insisted that I come back so we can finish our part of the project.” I said. I heard someone else walking to the kitchen. I looked to my left and saw Corey. He was smiling and joined Ra-Ra at the table. I really hoped he didn’t heard what I just told Ra-Ra.

“What are you over there making?” He said. I was relieved because he didn’t hear what I told Ra-Ra or maybe he was trying to change the subject.

“You should know already.” He laughed he did know what I was making but he was asking because he hadn’t ate it in a while.
I was cooking for a while and then I felt someone standing behind me. I figured it was Corey because I could feel him breathing lightly on my neck. He kissed me lightly on my neck then went back to the table. He sat down slowly and Ra-Ra shook her head at him.

“I’m going to pretend you didn’t do anything Corey.” She laughed as I made our plates. I took Ra-Ra and Corey’s plates to the table first and went back to get mine. We ate in silence then I took everyone’s plates to the sink, cleaned them off and put them into the dishwasher. Ra-Ra left right after I took the plates to the sink to clean them off. Corey and I walked upstairs together. He walked me to my room and I went inside. I heard him walk off then I started running water so I could give Taniyah a bath. We were leaving within an hour or so. Ra-Ra was in the shower. I washed Taniyah up and got her dressed. I put her down to sleep while I showered and changed clothes. Once we were already to go, I wrote a note to Angel and Corey saying sorry for not staying the whole time but we would be back next weekend hopefully.

Two hours later, we were still driving back to Gainesville and Taniyah was still knocked out in the backseat. I was in the passenger seat for right now until we made our first stop. Twenty-five minutes later, we stopped at a gas station and I took over driving. Taniyah woke up and we stopped for food too. We drove for about another hour and a half to two hours before we were back at home at the apartment. I got my stuff ready to go to Nick’s apartment which was two blocks away from where we stayed. I walked down to his complex and we got right to work.

Back in Miami

Slick’s POV

Angel and I just got up. I went straight downstairs because something didn’t feel right and I saw the note from Kris on the counter and I smiled. I was a little upset at the fact that they left in the middle of the night to go back home but if it was about school I knew Kris would go back. I had a gut feeling that something was about to happen.
Two hours passed, I called Ra-Ra to see what was going on. After three rings, she picked up the phone.

“Hey Corey,” She said.

“What are you doing?” I asked. I noticed she sounded like she was out of breath.

“Your daughter is running through this apartment and I’m trying to calm her down.” I just smiled to myself but something still didn’t feel right to me.

“Is Kris there?” She hesitated before answering the question.

“No, she went to her partner’s place to finish up their project that’s due on Monday. Hold on my other line is beeping.” She clicked over but never came back to my line.

Ra-Ra’s POV

I just clicked over because it was Kris’s number that popped up on the phone. I totally forgot about Corey on the other line though.

“Kris what’s wrong?” I asked. I was really concerned by the way she was crying and working up the courage to say something.

“Get help for me please, and then get Corey to come and get Taniyah.” She said. Now I was even more concerned because she was sending Taniyah to stay in Miami with Corey and Angel. I dialed 911 from my cell and also clicked over to my other line to see if Corey was still there I was glad he was.

End of Ra-Ra’s POV

Slick’s POV

I heard Ra-Ra click back over to my line. I heard her talking to someone on another phone and then she got off.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

“Can you come out here and get Taniyah so she can stay with you?” She replied. I was now real confused and even more concerned about Kris.

“What’s wrong with Kris? Where is she at?” It was too late she had clicked over to her other line again. Angel was looking at me scared to death now. I looked at her and said, “What’s wrong?”

“Don’t get mad but I heard her talking to someone on the phone around eleven last night and she said she was going home so she could finish their project.” That’s what the note said so I already knew that part something else was wrong. She continued, “It was a guy that called her about their project.” Now I was worried because I was a guy and I knew ways to get things that I wanted but I would never hurt anyone to get it. I heard the line click over.

“Corey, are you still there?” Ra-Ra asked.

“Yes I’m still here. What’s up?” I was hoping she had news on Kris.

“Diamond and Marcus are on their way to get you and if you are up to staying out here you can.” I was planning on staying but I had to find the right way to break up with Angel first.

“Okay I’m going to pack a bag of clothes so I can stay out there to help with Taniyah and if I have to come back down here then I’ll get Marcus or Diamond to come pick me up.” We said good-bye and hung up.

“I think its best for you and Kris to try and work out your differences because you have a beautiful daughter that needs a father in her life. We can stay friends but try and get back with Kris though.” Angel said. We both went upstairs and I packed my stuff for my trip and she packed her things to move.

End of Slick’s POV

I was barely able to move after that brutal beating and rape. I heard the paramedics pull up outside. They came up to the apartment and opened the door. Nick was dumb to leave it unlocked when he left. They got me onto the stretcher and took me to the ambulance. I was taken straight to the hospital to get treated. I hoped this wouldn’t hurt my chances of having children.

Chapter Six: Retaliation

Diamond, Marcus and Corey were on their way to Gainesville to see what was going on with Kris and Ra-Ra. Kris had already told Diamond what happened and he was going to hurt Nick if he saw him. Corey was staying out in Gainesville that didn’t surprise Diamond one bit. Corey had no clue what happened to Kris but he thought that the worst had happened if Kris wanted him to take Taniyah to Miami. They stopped at the apartment first to pick up Taniyah. They stopped there for a while though.

“What’s up?” Marcus said. Taniyah came over to them with her bag packed thinking she was leaving but she didn’t know Corey was staying there. Corey walked in last with his bag. Taniyah saw that and just took her bag back to the room.

“Hey Corey,” Ra-Ra said.

“Where do I put my bag?” He asked.

“You can set them in Kris’s room.” Corey walked to the room Taniyah went into five minutes ago. He set his stuff down and picked Taniyah up.

“So where is she at?” Diamond asked. He was concerned.

“She will be transferred to the university hospital in the morning but tonight she is staying at one of the local hospitals I don’t know which one though. She was supposed to call me with that information but I guess she hasn’t been able to yet.” They feared the worst but the phone rang right after Ra-Ra said that. Ra-Ra wrote all the information down and then said, “I’ll go up there later on so someone can look after Taniyah.” Corey Diamond and Marcus headed to the hospital.

After arriving at the hospital, they parked the truck and headed inside. They went up to the receptionist desk to find out which room Kris was in.

“What room is Krystal Daniels in?” Marcus asked.

“Who are you to her?” The receptionist said.

“We’re her family.” Corey said. He was upset already but this was pissing him off even more.

“She’s in room 222 on the second floor.” They headed straight to the elevator to go see Kris. It took them five minutes to find the room. They went in and this was one of the times they wanted to cry but they didn’t. Corey went to the side of the bed and touched Kris’s hand. She woke up and looked up at all of them.

“When did you get here?” She asked.

“We got here like ten minutes ago but we’ve been out here in Gainesville for about an hour now.” Diamond said. Corey moved out the way.

“You should rest and save your strength.” Corey said. She gave him a light smile and they left the room. She went back to sleep.
They had already gone back downstairs. They were leaving the hospital talking about everything. Diamond was explaining to them that she made both Ra-Ra and him promise not to say anything to anyone.

“Did Spec already know? Is that why he stayed back?” Marcus wondered.

“He called her and talked to her for twenty minutes. He was going to come but decided to stay back because he already knew what he would do if he came out here. He would have been out looking for her partner Nick to possibly hurt him. The police still haven’t found him yet either. Kris and Ra-Ra are also planning to move back down to Miami after she is released from the hospital.” Marcus beyond pissed at the situation as it was but Diamond not telling them what was going on before they got there made things worse. He put that aside and put his energy towards trying to find Nick to give him a piece of his mind.

“Marcus you two are going back home and keeping this on the low until we get there.” Corey had a feeling that Marcus was going to do what he was thinking about doing after they left.

“Corey you’re not in any position to talk. You want to do the same thing he wants to but right now you need to put your energy towards taking care of your daughter and making sure Kris makes a safe recovery. Let the police find Nick and his friends that raped her to deal with them legally. This isn’t Nick’s first time doing this to a girl. He did this like three months ago to another girl he was doing a project. She was a friend to Kris and Ra-Ra.” Diamond trailed off thinking about the whole situation with Nick because Nick had gotten off easy the first time. There was a lot of evidence against him but the charges we initialed dropped before the trial ended.

“What happened with the last girl?” Marcus was looking at his brother for a response.

“They let him off last time because the girl dropped the charges on him. The police held in jail for a week then let him walk free. Justice wasn’t served and this time the police are going to get him. The trial will be held in Miami. They think that’s where he fled but he will be back here on Monday to turn in his work for the project.” They figured campus police and city police would be waiting on him to show up. There was also a warrant out for his arrest in all counties and cities throughout the state of Florida. Diamond was in the same state as his brothers about retaliating against Nick. He wanted to kill him for raping Kris. He didn’t need to talk to a doctor or anything because the last time she was raped the doctors said that the next time it happens she most likely will not be able to have children again.

Corey was going to be upset about that because he was planning to start fresh and new with Kris. Hopefully they could start a family but now that wasn’t going to happen.

Slick’s POV

I have a feeling that Diamond knows something because he is never this quiet when it comes to Kris. He knows that I want to start a new relationship with Kris and possibly have a family with her meaning more children. If she can’t have children anymore, I’ll be upset because one she already kept Taniyah from me for almost three years and that hurt me. Two, I want at least three maybe four kids. Finally, we both said when we first dated we wanted a family with two to five children. I’m surprised that she agreed to that because I really wanted more than that but we had to compromise with two to five because she didn’t want a huge family like I came from and I understand why though.

End of Slick’s POV

Diamond just dropped Corey back off at Kris and Ra-Ra’s apartment so him and Marcus could make the drive back to Miami as quick as possible because they missed their girls already. Corey walked up to the apartment and Ra-Ra let him inside.

 

“How is Kris doing?” Ra-Ra asked.

“Well she’s recovering right now but she was only awake for a few minutes. She was sleep before we left her room.” Corey said.

“I’ll wait to go see her later on tonight. Where are you sleeping at?” Even though she guessed he was staying with Taniyah in Kris’s room, she still had to make sure.

“Is there anything else I need to know about Kris?” Corey was really concerned at this point because he wanted to know if she could have kids.

“I seriously don’t know personally. You should ask Diamond or one of your brothers about that because that’s something I wouldn’t know about. I know you two are planning to have more children but I don’t know the answer to the question.” Corey just nodded and looked in Kris’s room where he found Taniyah taking a nap. He closed the door quietly making sure he didn’t wake her up. He talked with Ra-Ra for a while then went into the room to sleep.
